Don’t Say Gay. And Other Controversial Laws

You Can’t Legislate Morality!

I get this comment frequently.

Don’t legislate my morality.

Don’t tell me what to do.

Or something like, “why is your way better than someone else’s way?”

How can you say that the Bible is better than other religions?

This is a BIG topic.

I am going to skip most of the objections today because most, if not all of them are not real arguments. Most are really just a fancy way of saying, I want to control myself and you are not the boss of me.

But that is silly too, for all of human history we have known that someone has to make the rules for society. Some rulers have been good, most have been bad. God, by definition, is always good, so my money is on him.

Yet, to many, his “rules” seem strict.

They see the 10 commandments as a list of dont’s and they don’t like that.

So many people make up their own morality.

All laws legislate morality. Prove me wrong.

When you stop at a stop sign what is the worst that can happen?

You run the stop sign and kill someone.

That is morality, like it or not.

And EVERY law is moral.

Every single law tells you what you ought to do or not do. That literally is morality. Right and Wrong.

We are more and more confused by this simple concept and for the life of me, I can’t figure out why.

We talk about rights and what is owed us, but we don’t think about the responsibility that comes with these rights.

Then there are those that go off into the weeds and pretend to be talking about rights when they are talking about murder and other various immoral practices.

Today we will look at 5 laws where the conservatives are pushing back and trying to regain morality through legislation and one law that tried to remove certain humans from the planet.
